Rain saved South Africa from a potential defeat on the final day of the third test in Hamilton. The Proteas were 80/5 going into Day 5, still 115 runs behind and with only their last recognised batting pair of Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock at the crease, the Black Caps would’ve fancied their chances.
However rain put paid to the Black Caps’ hopes with not a single ball being balled, and thus completed another successful tour for Du Plessis as captain, with South Africa taking the series 1-0 thanks to their win in the second test in Wellington.
Here is a great catch from Black Caps opener Tom Latham, standing at short leg, to dismiss Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis for 53 in the first innings of the third test in Hamilton. Great anticipation from Latham, who began to move early expecting du Plessis to sweep and then caught it one handed.
